The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team lost a tough season opener Tuesday evening, 58-56 in overtime.

The game was tied at half, 26-26, and again at the end of regulation, 51-51.
Leading scorers were Tyler Zomerlei with 16 points, Colin Weber with 15, Drew Weber with 12 and Trevor Smith with 12.
“The Vikings played tough defense against Schoolcraft’s size,” coach Jake Jewett said, “but their outside shooting combined with the guard play of Kobe Clark pulled them ahead by two points in OT.
The Viking boys will try to regroup at Hamilton Friday evening.
