It could be argued that Hopkins is becoming notorious as a second-half football team.

In all three of the Vikings’ victories this season, they have scored a lot of points in the third and fourth quarters, twice coming from behind to win against Godwin Heights and Kelloggsville. This time they widened the gap — considerably.

Hopkins was clinging to leads of 13-6 and 25-20 after the first two periods before exploding for 37 points in the last 24 minutes to post a 64-26 triumph at Calvin Christian. The Vikings now are 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the O-K Silver Conference.

The Squires apparently have fallen on hard times, not winning more than once in the last five seasons and in 2020 they failed to field an 11-man team.
