Hopkins halted a three-game losing streak on the gridiron Friday night with a 42-14 victory over non-conference opponent Buchanan.
The Vikings lost the previous two weeks to unbeaten foes Wyoming Godwin Heights and Grand Rapids Northpointe Christian, and 21-20 three weeks ago to Belding, which knocked Northpointe from the ranks of the undefeated 35-21.
The Hopkins victory lifted its overall season record to 2-4, but it still is winless at 0-3 in the O-K Silver Conference. Its next game will be at home this Friday against Grandville Calvin Christian, which has been struggling this fall.
