It was not a good day at all for Hopkins harriers at the Otsego Bulldog Invitational Saturday.

The Viking girls finished 18th in a field of 26 teams with 485 team points. Host Otsego won the competition with just 69 points.

The boys fared even worse, finishing dead last among the 30 squads in the competition.

The usual top two Lady Viking runners, Neveah Helderop and Kambria Moored, completed the five-kilometer race well back in the pack, with times they aren’t accustomed to. Jaeden Harshberger paced Hopkins, crossing the finish line in 20:59.52.

Freshman Jack Estelle was first in line for the Viking boys, but even he failed to crack the top 100.

I believe you need to talk to the Hopkins cross country coach. There were more than 6 athletes who PRd during that meet. I believe you need to print an apology to these athletes that did amazing against schools larger than theirs in bigger conferences than theirs. You compared apples to oranges. Shame on you for making these athletes fell “less than”. We are certainly proud of their accomplishment.

I believe you need to talk to the Vikings cross country coach. Several of our athletes hit PRs during this meet. You should be ashamed for making these athletes feel "less than" in your article. You are comparing apples to oranges - as these athletes ran against larger schools that are not in their conference. Perhaps next time you could get accurate information before you post it to the internet for all to see.
