The Hopkins varsity volleyball team had a rough day Saturday at the rugged Cereal City Invitational in Battle Creek, winning just one of four encounters.

The Lady Vikings finished the day with an overall record of 10-7-2

In pool play, Detroit Renaissance defeated Hopkins 25-16, 14-25, 17-16; Coldwater swept Hopkins 25-14, 25-18, and the Vikings came back to beat Battle Creek Pennfield 21-25, 26-24, 15-10.

In Silver Bracket, Delton Kellogg defeated Hopkins 25-19, 25-20.

Statistically, Logan Brummel had 56 assists; Meghan Schulz came up with 25 kills, Macy Arndt had 21, Brianna Miller 13 and Brummel 12; Schulz had 8 blocks and Mikayla Bulich 6; Miller 5 had five serving aces and Bulich and Nicole Pitsch 3 apiece, and Hailey Shank had 37 digs, Pitsch 23, Bulich 21 and Brummel 20.
