Colin Weber led Hopkins with 17 points.

The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team lifted its overall season record to 7-3 with a 67-40 victory Friday over O-K Silver Conference opponent Wyoming Lee.

The Vikings got off to a slow start, leading only 18-15 at the close of the first quarter, but they turned on the jets with a 20-5 run in the next eight minutes to mount a 38-20 advantage at intermission. They were up 48-30 heading into the fourth period and pulled further away.

Sophomore point guard Colin Weber led all scorers with 17 points. Hunter Lewellyn chipped in with 10 and Drew Weber added 9.

“Defensive pressure leading to turnovers by the Rebels and points off layups contributed most to the victory,” remarked coach Jake Jewitt. “It was a great team win where everyone contributed.”

Hopkins will be on the home court Tuesday evening, Jan. 22, against another Silver foe, NorthPointe Christian. The Vikings are 2-1 in league play thus far.
