There’s a three-way race under way for this year’s O-K Silver Conference softball championship.
Grandville Calvin Christian Thursday in a makeup game muddied the waters even more by turning back Hopkins 9-1. The outcome has resulted in league standings that show Comstock Park at 6-0, Calvin Christian at 7-1 and Hopkins at 5-1. The only loss for the Vikings and Squires came at the hands of each other.
The discrepancy of records is the result of rainouts and inclement weather. Comstock Park has yet to face either Hopkins or Calvin Christian.
The Squires Thursday were able to avenge their only league loss by pinning a 9-1 defeat on Hopkins.
Losing pitcher Hannah Brinks went six innings and gave up four runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out four. Gracie Stallard gave up the other five runs.
Brinks, Gracie Stallard and Ava Vanderkolk each contributed two hits to the offensive attack. Brinks posted the Lady Vikings’ only RBI.
Hopkins is 5-1 in the Silver and 12-6 overall. It will resume league play at Wyoming Godwin Heights Tuesday.
