The Hopkins boys’ varsity track team checked in fourth in the nine-team O-K Silver Conference meet and the girls were fifth.

The Viking boys scored 85 points. Sparta was meet champion with 184.83. Belding took the women’s competition with 150 points and the Lady Vikings finished with 79.

The Hopkins boys scored plenty of points in the sprints. Trevor Shealy was league champion in the 200-meter dash at 24.6 seconds and took third in the 100.

The 800-meter relay quartet freshman Landen Klinge, Nolan Hugmeyer, Noah Corneille and Shealy was runner-up with a time of 1:37.76. The same foursome finished third in 300 relay.

Klinge, perhaps to the surprise of no one, captured first place in the pole vault at 11 feet even.

The Vikings also picked up points in the throws, as sophomore Mason Tomes was second in the shot put at 42-10.5 and Tanner Neuman, Josh Tew and Tomes went four, five and six in the discus.

None of the Lady Vikings were able to capture a league championship. Grance Brenner was runner-up in the shot put, as was freshman Helena Kerber in the 800-meter run.

Sophomore Kendall Mohr took third in the 200, as did freshman Vanessa Barry in the long jump. Kerber was fourth in the 1600 and in the 3200, freshman Sophia Garvin placed fourth in the 100 and Brenner fourth in the discus.

Alex Jackson checked in sixth in both hurdle events.
