Ryan Haveman (20) shown here in action in the season opener against Newaygo.

There are three O-K Silver Conference football teams now sporting 5-0 records overall, and Hopkins has lost to two of them in the past two weeks.

The Vikings, who gave unbeaten Wyoming Godwin Heights a decent battle in the previous week, dropped a 42-28 verdict Friday night to Northpointe Christian.

The other unbeaten is Kelloggsville, which still remains of the schedule.

Hopkins was able to tie the ballgame at 14-all at the half, but went scoreless in the third quarter and yielded 21 points in the final period.

Junior Ryan Haveman rushed for 134 in 20 carries. Junior QB Nolan Smith passed for 124 yards and a touchdown, with Hunter Lewellyn catching two of the four completed passes for 64 yards.

Grey Castello led the defensive effort with five tackled as three assists.

The Vikings now are 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the league. They have yielded 159 points in their five games this season, an average of about 32 per contest.

Hopkins will travel to Buchanan next Friday night for a non-conference matchup.
