Collin Weber (10) scored 21 points to lead Hopkins to the OT win.

The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team edged NorthPointe Christian in a 63-62 overtime thriller Thursday night and came back Friday to beat Belding 62-40 on the road.

The wins propelled the Vikings to a 15-4 overall record for the season and they finished in second place in the O-K Silver Conference with a a 10-2 record, behind Wyoming Godwin Heights.

Sophomore point guard Colin Weber pumped in 21 points to lead the Vikings’ offensive attack and senior Tyler Zomerlei added a dozen. Grant Baker scored 24 for NorthPointe, which settled for third place in the league standings.

In the overtime thriller Thursday evening, the two teams were tied 29-29 at halftime and 58-58 at the end of regulation. Hopkins pulled ahead by 1 with 5 seconds to go with a floater from Colin Weber off the glass and secured the win.
Zomerlei led all scorers with 18 points in the victory at Belding.
Hopkins will play in the Class B district tournament at Allegan Wednesday against either host Allegan or Hamilton. The finals will be held Friday evening.
