
The Hopkins softball team did a Jekyll and Hyde routine in a non-league doubleheader with GR Covenant Christian Monday afternoon.
The Lady Vikings mercied Covenant in game one 11-1, but then turned 180 degrees and got mercied themselves in the nightcap 15-4.
Senior hurler Hannah Brinks pitched a masterful opener, limiting Covenant to just five hits and one run, walking none and striking out seven.
Meanwhile, Hopkins’ offense was more than apparent.
Ava Vanderkolk belted a home run, Brinks unloaded a couple’s own doubles and Lyla Reynolds and Cami Hibma had one two-bagger apiece.
Kaylee Burgess came up with three hits and Callie Washburn went 2 for-2. The Vikings collected 13 hits in all.
Not so in game two, as the Chargers took charge in the first inning, featuring a home run, and they plated six runs in the second and added two more in the third.VanderKolk delivered a home run for the Vikings,
