The Hopkins boys are 5-0 and the Lady Vikings are 4-0-1 thus far in their bowling seasons’ dual matches.

Both will be the visiting teams Wednesday against Kelloggsville in O-K Silver Conference showdowns.

Hopkins boys defeated Wyoming Lee 23-7 and the girls won 28-2 Monday in the league encounters.

The boys led the Rebels after Baker play 6-4 and in match play they lengthened the lead by taking three of the five contests. Two Vikings rolled 200 games, Mikee Schumacher (208) and Brenden Gossman (202). After one match the Vikings led 13-6.

In the second match Hopkins turned it on, taking four of the next five match points. Gossman rolled a 264 to take his point in the final match of the day.

The Lady Vikings took all possible Baker points and led 10-0 and continued to be impressive by taking four of the possible five match points. Hopkins girls were lead by Betsy Hyde’s 168 game. After the first match the girls led 18-1.

The second match was just as impressive as the Lady Vikings took 4.5 points out of 5 to take the match 28.5 to 1.5. Second match high score honors went to McKenzie Morris who rolled a 145.

Hopkins girls defeated Calvin Christian last week 18-12. They led 6-4 after the Bakers with a 263 to a 231 total pin score. The match turned into a seesaw competition, with points going to both teams and the lead changing three times. After the first match Hopkins girls were down 11- 8 with Hopkins taking two points. In the second match with only five points allowance for the girl team, Hopkins girls came back and took four of five matches with three freshmen girls came up big, earning three of those points. Alayna Ryan came in off the bench and rolled a 142 to take a point, while Jenna Mohr took another point with a 165. The other two points came from Lea Helder 117, and Jenny Rietman rolling a 157 to take the final match point.

The game was extremely close as all five matches the winner wasn’t decided until the final two frames.

Meanwhile, the boys bested Calvin Christian 23-7. After the first two Baker games Hopkins was ahead 6-4. In the head to head competition, the boys took four of five matches and total pins to pull ahead 14-5.

High game came from Zach Mohr, 190. In the second match Hopkins boys took three of five match points plus total pins. Drew Osborn took a point in the second match with a 211.
