Anne Helen Doublestein (Chlebana), age 92 of Wayland died Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Anne was born March 22, 1928, in Shelbyville. She will be remembered for her ability to “adopt” nearly everyone who entered her home. She was proud of her family and took every opportunity to highlight their accomplishments. Her “office” was the kitchen table and she did some of her best work over coffee and sweet rolls
Anne is survived by her sons Erwin Jr. (Cathy), Gary (Linda), Scott (Pam); sister, Eleanor (Henry) Banas; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Rev. William (Karen) Doubblestein.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin R. Doublestein; parents Michael and Johanna Chlebana; brothers Charles, Joseph, Alex, Michael, and Andrew Chlebana; and sisters Julia Kotrba and Amelia Peck.
Visitation will occur at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 159 – 131st Ave., Wayland. Funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. The mass will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
A Memorial Celebration and interment will be scheduled in late June at Germond Cemetery on 126th Street, Wayland Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
