Visitation will be Friday in Dorr for Doug Berens, 74

Douglas Jack Berens, age 74, died at his home in Dorr Monday, Jan. 9.

Doug served his country in the United States Navy. First and foremost, Doug loved his family and especially spending time with his little buddies and watching them play ball.

In his younger years, he and Kathleen enjoyed riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, camping, and riding dirt bikes. He also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and watching classic Western films.

He is survived by his wife and faithful caretaker, Kathleen Berens; son, Cory (Jamie) Berens and their children (his little buddies) Trevin and Kaiden; daughter, Lisa (Jim) Schaendorf and their children Ashley (Colten) DeHaan and Tyler (Cassie) Schaendorf; son, Robert (Amber) Brenner and their children Robert Brenner Jr., Russell (McKenzie) Brenner, Adam Brenner, Christian Brenner, Kathleen Brenner; sister, Coni Longstreet; his four-legged friend, Brie; and many great-grandchildren, niece, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Agnes Berens, and sister, Beverly Berens

Visitation with the family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Kubiak-Cook (Dorr chapel), 4330 18th St.
