The Wayland City Planning Commission Tuesday evening approved a site plan request from Trygon Investment Fund, paving the way for establishment of an industrial warehouse at 1135 133rd Ave.
The odd-shaped parcel was purchased by Wayland High School graduates Keith Nickels and Josh Otto for only $20,000 because the land was up for sale for many years with no takers.
The warehouse is part of plans for an industrial development district that eventually will permit the developers to receive tax abatements for up to 50 percent for 12 years.
Ryan Ferrier of Lakeshore Advertising presented the request and said every effort is being made to avoid any wetlands on the property.
In other business at the meeting Tuesday, the Planning Commission:
- Again tabled a request from Village Green Apartments for site plan for development of 24-unit apartments on Forrest Street. The developers did not show up for the meeting.
- Approved the adoption of by-laws for the commission.
- Finally adopted a sign ordinance in accordance with most recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings.
