Watson Township Board reluctantly accepts sexton’s resignation

Watson Township is looking for a new sexton.

The Township Board Thursday evening reluctantly accepted the resignation of John Andrysiak, who indicated recent health problems have been keeping him from doing the job as he should. Andrysiak had served for the past year.

Meanwhile, Township Supervisor Pam Brown will have to serve as interim sexton until a replacement can be found.

“I’ve already contacted three people and they’s all said no thank you,” she told her board colleagues.

She then asked John Dolegowski, who was in the audience, but he declined, explaining that his farm chores made it unlikely he could make the necessary commitment.

The board voted to allow the supervisor to receive the sexton’s pay while she is serving in the interim. Jessie Simpson will continue to perform duties of opening graves in the cemeteries.
