The Watson Township Board Thursday evening adopted a balanced budget of just over $225,000 for fiscal year 2017-18.

The township’s budget anticipates revenues and expenditures at the same — $225,850 — with an 0.7673-mill levy by state statute. Treasurer Sue Jones said the fund balance, or savings account, now stands at $269,170.

The earmarked portion of the budget, outside of the general fund, includes $57,050 on 0.9914 mill for dust control, with an expenditure of $42,000 to Michigan Chloride Sales; $147,350 on 1.9828 mills for roads, with a planned expenditure of $60,000, and a special assessment one mill for $78,050, with planned expense of $66,436.

Another expense, approved Thursday night, was $1,000 to the JC Wheeler Library in Martin, which is the township’s annual contribution. Hopkins District Library is covered by a millage.
