Watson Township to consider Johnsons’ planning bid

Main Street PlanningThe Watson Township Board will evaluate a proposal from Tim Johnson of Main Street Planners to provide planning services for the township.

Johnson, who re-started Main Street with his wife, Janice, earlier this year, is seeking to be planning consultant for Watson, which lost Mark Sisson, who took a full-time planning job with Gaines Township last fall.

The township has agreed to have Professional Code Inspections (PCI) of Dorr handle the basic planning duties, but Kirk Scharphorn Jr. has recommended hiring a professional planner on an as-needed basis for more serious needs.

Johnson continues to serve as planner for Dorr and Wayland townships, and his wife was planning consultant for the City of Wayland until she and her husband left Wade Trim to start up their own firm in Grand Rapids again.

The Johnsons are under consideration for being the city’s new planner later this spring.
