WAEMS to receive $174,000 with federal grant award

The Wayland Area Ambulance Service will get a $174,615 grant from  the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Wayland and Comstock grants are provided through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.

The money is to help first responders with daily operations and safety protocols. The funds also will be used for professional training, personal protective equipment, facility modifications, wellness and fitness programs and equipment and supplies the departments need.

Congressman Fred Upton, who announced the grant awards, said, “I am glad to see that the good folks in Comstock and Wayland have been selected to receive these funds to further support their missions to protect all who call Southwest Michigan home.”
