Wayland Motor Sales is one of two West Michigan auto dealerships that have been closed by the Michigan Secretary of State’s office.

Wayland Motor Sales. 159 N. Main St., and Patriot Auto Group in Hasting have been closed because the title and registration from those dealers might not be legal, officials indicated. Customers might have been issued improper temporary registrations or license plates for their vehicles. Buyers are at risk of having their cars impounded if they’re stopped by police.

Both companies, which sell used vehicles, had violations for unprocessed sales transactions, including titles or registrations.

Anyone who purchased a vehicle from the dealers is asked to contact the Secretary of State’s Office of Investigative Services at 517-335-1410.
