The Wayland Union Board of Education has begun the search process to find a new superintendent and the public is invited to special public meetings at 12:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, jan. 30.

Assisting the board in the search to succeed the retiring Norman Taylor is the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), a service organization that supports the work of school boards throughout Michigan.

As the profile of the ideal candidate is developed, the boards are soliciting community and staff input. Residents of the district, all staff and administration are encouraged to participate in the process.

The community meetings will be held at 12:15 pm at Wayland Union Schools Administration Building, 850 E. Superior St., and at 6 p.m. Wayland Union High School Media Center, 870 E. Superior St.

An online survey is available at this URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/waylandsearch

Survey responses are sent directly to MASB in Lansing for tabulation. The survey will remain open until Feb. 10. The board will publicly consider the input received and develop a candidate profile, which will guide the process as candidates are recruited and selected for public interview. The board expects to select the new superintendent to begin July 1.

A timeline and preliminary posting can be found on the district website at:
