Wayland boy donated handicapped accessible wheelchair

The story about a Wayland boy’s handicapped-accessible van that was destroyed by an uninsured driver crashed into it apparently has a happy ending.

Graham Tomson, 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Tomson, learned that Laura Jergens of Springfield, just outside of Battle Creek, heard about the story from WOOD-TV Channel 8 and decided to donate a $30,000 wheelchair in honor of her deceased son, Jaxon. Her son was using it because he suffered from a rare disease and died last November.

“I just messaged the mom and said hey I have a chair for you,” she told WOOD-TV.

“It fit from the get-go, just perfectly,” said Cliff Tomson. “It was almost like it was meant to be.”
