The Wayland boys’ varsity basketball squad Thursday night scored a 77-64 victory over Forest Hills Eastern.

The game was moved from Friday to Thursday because of the expectation of inclement weather.

It was the second triumph of the season for the Wildcats, who now are 2-8 overall for the campaign and 1-2 in the O-K Gold Conference.

The news about Hopkins, however, continues to be grim, as the Vikings dropped a tight 53-52 verdict to O-K Silver Conference rival Kelloggsville. It was Hopkins’ fifth straight defeat, stretching back to Dec. 12. The Vikings now are 0-3 in league play and 4-6 overall.

Galesburg-Augusta defeated the Martin boys’ team 70-19. The Clippers now are 0-9 for the season and Galesburg-Augusta is 7-2.
