Wayland Police Chief Steve Harper is one of six finalists interviewing for the police chief’s position at the City of Zeeland.

Harper, who was appointed chief at Wayland in 2012 after the firing of Dan Miller, also was commander of the Michigan State Police post in Wayland before that.

The City of Zeeland conducted the first round of interviews Friday afternoon and they will resume Monday morning at City Hall. The candidate selected will succeed the retired Bill Olney.

The other five finalists are Albion Public Safety Chief Scott Kipp, interim Zeeland Chief Kevin Cisler, Fifth District assistant Commander Patrick Boyd, Meridian Township Captain Greg Fenger, and Easton County Chief Deputy Tim Jungel.

The six finalists were chosen from a list of 37 candidates for the job.
