Wayland City Council’s election is a real yawner

The results of the Wayland City Council election Tuesday were about as predictable as a Republican candidate’s victory in Allegan or Barry County.

Three incumbents were running unopposed on the ballot. Councilman Rick Mathis received 194 votes, Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Antel got 193 and Councilwoman Tracy Bivins polled 186. There were five unspecified write-in votes.

All three non-partisan seats are for two-year terms.
