Wayland City Manager Joshua Eggleston, who only last week withdrew as a finalist for the village manager’s post at Saugatuck, will be offered a similar job at Zeeland Township Wednesday, May 29.
Sources say Eggleston lives only a couple of blocks away from the township hall, which would reduce his transportation expenses greatly.
The Township Board will have a special meeting Wednesday afternoon to approve a contract with Eggleston. He is expected to earn more than $100,000 a year in salary.
Zeeland Township has just created the township supervisor’s position in an attempt to have a chief executive officer.
Eggleston, who has been city manager at Wayland for the past six years, was among the final four candidates as reported earlier this month, in Saugatuck.
I hope when they find a new city manager the pay scale is lowered, I can’t believe what this position was paying seeing how a manager never last for more than 5 to 6 years If he or she preforms well then they can give a raise. Also would be nice to find one that actually addresses the concerns and needs of the citizens of Wayland.
“Also would be nice to find one that actually addresses the concerns and needs of the citizens of Wayland.”
Just curious, If you were leading this city, what would be your top 5 concerns that you feel should be addressed? Note: That could fit in the budget.
Maintaining the city park, repairing or replacing sections of sidewalks, trimming and removing trees that are in bad shape, reducing the time the DPW spends waisting gas driving back and forth from one side of the city limits to the other side. Also believe the city council members should do a monthly drive around our walk to address street issues that need repairs not just throwing some asphalt on a hole constantly. These are things that should already be in a budget if they quit spending money on equipment for the DPW unless it’s necessary.
All valid points.
Thanks!
Cheers!!
