Wayland elementary teachers attend Van Andel science academy

Jenneman, Nykerk Heath VAEISeveral Wayland Union Schools elementary teachers took part in the Van Andel Education Institute’s Science Academy last week in Grand Rapids where they learned inquiry-based instructional techniques.

They are expected to bring what they’ve learned back to the classroom for their science instruction.

This program is sponsored by the Allegan Area Educational Services Agency (AAESA). Wayland Union Schools has partnered with the Van Andel Education Institute since 2012.

Van Andel Education Institute’s Science Academy is a non-profit academic institution that offers educational programs for elementary and middle school students and teachers, as well as local community members. The Science Academy is dedicated to advancing and promoting science education and increasing the number of students who choose to pursue careers in science or science-related fields.
