Wayland Family Dentistry at 404 West Superior St. has been closed now for four months and there are troubling signs that it may be more than. temporary.
Little, if any, activity, has been noticed since the COVID-19 health crisis caused many businesses and services to shut down in mid-March. And while other dental practices have reopened under accelerated cautionary practices, the clinic has remained shuttered.
The clinic’s Facebook page March 17 posted, “Due to the escalating Coronavirus pandemic, the MDA has recommended all dental offices close. Our office will be closed Thursday and Friday (May 17 and 18). We will be having morning appointments available strictly for dental emergencies today and tomorrow. We will try our best to keep you updated on this ever-evolving situation.”
Wayland Family Dentistry opened five years ago at the site of the former Robinson Dental Care, which moved to new offices on Reno Drive. The purpose of the clinic was to serve patients who stuggled to afford dental care and it was the site of a special free dental care day in September 2016.
However, the clinic earlier this year informed many patients it could no longer accept Medicaid clients. Medicaid had been one of the primary way it could afford to offer its services.
Wayland Family Dentistry now is listed on its Facebook page as closed temporarily, but that status has been the same for four months.
David,
Instead of assuming stop by or pick up the phone and ask The Robinson’s what is going on. I am sure they are not hiding any secrets. Though I guess this makes for a better story………
Cheers!!
