Wayland family turns to GoFundMe to replace smashed van

A handicap accessible fan for a 4-year-old Wayland boy was struck Thursday by an uninsured motorist and a GoFundMe page has been established for his family.

Graham Tomson’s family did a lot of fund-raising to purchase the van for the youngster, who suffers from cerebral palsey, and they had it for only three months before the incident.

Graham’s mother, Ana Tomson, said the van was struck on their property while she was at home with her two children. The driver had careened onto their property and slammed into their van, Graham’s wheelchair and a stroller. She said it has created a hardship because before they got the van they had to breaking down his wheelchair and put it into the car.

Though the family is hoping insurance will cover the damage done to the van, they may be responsible for the cost of the wheelchair, which is between $15,000 and $25,000.
