Wayland High School boys’ varsity soccer coach Ben Sleeman apparently has given up that post.
Wayland Union Schools is advertising the boys’ head varsity job and the junior varsity post on its web site.
Sleeman, a 2004 graduate of Otsego High School and a 2009 graduate of Spring Arbor University, just finished his fifth season at the helm of the Wildcat boys’ team. He also has coached the girls’ varsity squad for six seasons and there is no word about that situation as of yet.
He was a four-year varsity player at Spring Arbor University and was named team captain his senior year. He also coached the sport at Otsego.
Sleeman’s team last fall struggled in terms of wins and losses, but upset perennial power Gull Lake in the district tournament.
Sleeman is a sixth grade teacher at Pine Street Elementary.
