Just like the varsity, the Wayland High School junior varsity basketball team is off to a 2-0 start this season. The Wildcats, coached by Coralie Ritz Miller, breezed past Wyoming 64-18 Friday evening after besting Rockford 54-39 Tuesday night.

Against Wyoming, the JV Wildcats jumped out to a first quarter 22 to 3 lead and increased it to 41 to 6 by half.
Every player but one scored for the Wildcats, “but more importantly, every player hustled and did their job,” Miller commented.

The jayvees grabbed a quick 10-point advantage in Tuesday’s game and never looked back. Ten of the 12 players scored, with pivot Sam Nieuwkoop scoring 13 points to lead the parade. Janae Randall had 8 points, all in the first quarter. Grace Dollarhide had 7, Chloe Coughlin 6, Skylar Stora 5, Kennedy Helderop and Abby Merice had 4, Mari Biondo 3, Abby Omness and Brandalyn Helderop had 2.img
