The Wayland and Martin High School football openers Thursday evening were delayed by lightning and a sever thunderstorm that passed through the area.
Wayland was trailing host Kenowa Hills 22-14 in the second quarter and Martin was leading Bellevue 20-6 in the fourth period when the delays occurred.
