Wayland Union Schools Supt. Dr. Christina Hinds has decided to err on the side of caution by switching instruction for the middle school to remote Friday, Dec. 3.
The superintendent, in a letter to parents sent Thursday evening, said:
This letter is to notify you of a change of instructional modeI for tomorrow. After
consultatlon with middle school administration, the district’s safety officer and Wayland City Police, I have decided to transition to remote Instruction Friday, Dec. 3.
As stated in my previous communication this afternoon, the investigation is still in progress and nothing has been substantiated. This Is a precautionary measure and it will allow us to complete the investigation regardlng recent Wayland Union Middle School threats.
The middle school will return to in-person instruction Monday, Dec. 6.
Middle School students and parents should note from the one-day remote learning schedule:
• If you are without Internet access, the student may be able to work in designated locations within the middle school building.
• Students without WiFi access at home may ride the bus to/from school. Students should report to the Wayland Union Middle School Main Office. Someone will direct them to their assigned supervised work area for the dav.
• Breakfast and lunch will be available for those students, attending school without home WiFi access.
• Please do not hesitate to contact the Middle School office with additional questions.
• The Middle School office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. if your student needs to pick up materials from their lockers.
