FTC Team 11846 the Catatechnics from Wayland Middle School ended their robotics season last weekend, maintaining first and second place most of the day, eventually finishing at fifth of the 32 teams competing in a tournament at Coloma.
As final captain for the fourth of four leaders, Wayland selected FTC teams 5290 the Hartland Steel Eagles and 4325 the Cassopolis Robo Rangers. The local students had to play the first alliance team who had the highest scoring robots of the day. The drivers and scouting team worked hard, but were outscored.
The WUMS robotics team earned the Think Award.
Mentors were Joe Harnish and Terry Cross, assisted by the CAD team of Nick Harnish and Andy Coffey. Electrical and Technical help were added by new mentors Mark Lyons and Tim Oudbier.
