Wayland native Floyd Jackson dies at age 82

Floyd Bernard Jackson, died at age 82 Sept. 7 after dealing with Parkinson’s disease for 12 years. He was born on Oct. 26, 1935, in Wayland.

Floyd had three great loves in his life, his God, his wife and his music. He remained faithful to all three until his death. Floyd married Linda Ann Pike on July 24, 1954. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 31, 1954. Together, he and his wife Linda served their god Jehovah God for 64 years and touched the lives of many people.

Floyd’s sense of humor, combined with his many talents, defined the man that his family and friends knew and loved. He continued to play the piano even during the last few weeks of his life.

Floyd is survived by his wife Linda; his sons Scott (Carla), Kraig, and Eric (Cheryl); his grandson Gregory (Monica); and great grandchildren, Alexis, Mariah, Hailey, and Izayah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Grace; brothers, Wesley, Andrew, Ted, and Harrison, Jr.; and his daughter-in-law Linda.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Godwin Heights High School Auditorium, 50 35th Street SW, Wyoming. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a one-hour visitation with the family before the memorial service.

Cremains will be interned at the Germond Cemetery in Wayland Township at a later date.
