Wayland Police Dept. hands out local citizens’ awards

The Wayland Police Department had its annual awards banquet recently at the Carpenters and Millwright Center.

Stan Gulch receives an award from Chief Mark Garnsey as DPW Supervisor Ben Batchelder applauds.

Selected as Citizens of the Year were Kaitlynn Sills for 2020 and Carmen Villahermosa De Cox for 2021

The celebration featured two special guests — William Tolliver of Wayland, and the world’s strongest man in the deadlift at 755 lbs., and Coretta James from New York City, who spoke for several minutes supporting police and their mission. She is also on mission to write a card for each of the 34,000 NYPD officers. She handed out quite a few to officers while she was here.
