Wayland police reporting spate of local car burglaries

The Wayland Police Department is encouraging local residents to roll up their car windows and lock the doors of their vehicles after they park them at home at night because of a spate are car break-ins.
“We’ve had several car break-ins the last couple of days,” said Police Chief Mark Garnsey. “ALL of them occurred to vehicles that had their windows down and/or their doors UNlocked. The time frame appears to be around midnight to the very early morning hours.”
The chief reported complaints of burglaries have come recently from Windsor Woods, Westbury Apartments, Sawmill Estates and West Elm Street sites. Two suspects were spotted and they fled, but the description is very limited thus far.
Garnsey said those who have any information or saw something suspicious but haven’t reported it yet, are urged to contact the Wayland Police at 269 793 9366, or Allegan County non-emergency at 269 673 3899. Callers can anonymously report it to Silent Observer at 1-855-Silent-0
