The winning Christmas card design entry.

Plans for a new pool and repairs for existing facilities contain ue to take up much of the focus for Wayland Union Schools officials lately.

Members of the Wayland Board of Education got another look at plans and ideas for the new natatorium approved by voters in a bond vote last May. They also were told that bids will be opened later this week for repairs on the the middle school roof, on the bathroom at Pine Street Elementary and the soccer field.

Some of the discussion at the same time was about the Wildcat logo that may appear at the pool’s entrance and any ideas about a catchy slogan. Board President Dan Cassini said he would like to see movement on that possibility.

As far as ideas for a slogan, Board Trustee Jeff Soon said, “I think we’d like to get some input from students.”

Board members and officials agreed, and it’s likely they will be asked what they think sometime next year.

The old pool that will be replaced covered about 9,000 square feet, and a new music room and shop classes will take up that space, but plans also call for a revamped entrance to the athletic complex, in which the pool entrance will be located.

There is even talk about implementing murals at the pool entrance.
