UPDATE: The phone system was repaired as of Monday evening.
Though many West Michigan school districts were closed because of snowy and icy road conditions, Wayland Union remained opened. Interestingly, the local schools’ phone system was down because of an outage, complicating matters considerably. The district’s web site reported, “The issue we are having is not with the new phone system. It appears there is a fiber break. The outage is affecting multiple customers in West Michigan, including Hopkins and Otsego. They are still in the processes of finding the location of the break in fiber. They currently do not have a estimate of restoration. We will keep you posted as soon as we have an update. The emails are working and you may email your school’s building secretary to contact the school. These are found on your school’s home page.”
