Wayland Twp. crash leads to Aero Med response

Wayland Fire and Yankee Springs Fire Departments were dispatched Thursday afternoon to a single vehicle accident in the 200 block of Hayes Road in Wayland Township.

Wayland Fire Chief Jim Stoddard said, “First arriving personnel on scene immediately requested AeroMed to be put on standby and later activated to fly the patient to a local hospital. Fire personnel extricated the patient, he was then turned over to Wayland EMS. Leighton Fire had secured a landing zone for AeroMed and once they landed the patient was transferred to the flight crew.

“Fire personnel remained on scene while Allegan County Deputies performed a crash reconstruction. Recovery/towing arrived on scene to remove the vehicle and once vehicle was secure Hayes Road was opened back up to travel and all units cleared the scene.”
