The Wayland Township Board and Professional Code Inspections have given Alan Burd until Oct. 5 to clean up his property on Gregorville Road.

Township officials have maintained that Burd has not followed through with the agreement made with PCI and Supervisor Roger VanVolkinburg. The current balance from previous blight cleanup by Wayland Township $136,284.17 does not include the $1,297.17 attorney/court charges for garnishment, etc. after 2018 lien arrangements.

It also does not include the current charges from PCI, attorneys, etc. to this new blight problem.

Burd appeared before the Township Board earlier this month to request an extension due to illness for himself and his wife. He was reminded that Zoning Administrator Lori Castello from PCI and VanVolkinburg have made trips to review property and have not seen improvement as agreed upon for more than two months.

Burd also had a friend in attendance at the meeting who said he would be willing to help.

It was decided that Mr. Burd would have one month, until Oct. 5, to make his property at 456 Gregorville Road clean and clear.

A township statement on the meeting minutes said, “If this does not happen, Castello will be given the task of having a contractor clean up the property and Burd will again be responsible for costs.”
