Jessica . ChristinaWayland High School students from Andrea Brown’s sociology classes at held a culture fair recently for their capstone project. Students researched and applied two trimesters of sociological knowledge to a culture of their choosing.  They highlighted the cultures language, entertainment, education, religion and value system, family structure, along with a variety of other interesting aspects of the material and non-material elements of their chosen culture. Students spent time exploring the cultural universal of food — what people eat, how it is eaten and the symbolic meaning behind food and then brought in food to accompany their capstone presentations. More than 30 students participated and feasted on a lunch from around the world.
