A Delton area woman described as being in her 70s was killed in a traffic crash Thursday afternoon on Patterson Road in Wayland Township.

Allegan County Sheriff’s authorities indicated snowy and slick road conditions were a factor.

Frances Kay Engeseth, 77, was driving a Kia in the southbound lane when she lost control and swerved into the path of an oncoming SUV south of 131st Avenue. Her vehicle was struck on the passenger’s side and she was pinned inside.

The SUV driver and passenger sustained minor injuries and didn’t need medical treatment.

Yankee Springs Township Fire Department officials reported Patterson was shut down to traffic between 130th and 131st Avenues, but the scene was cleared early evening.
