JARS, the City of Wayland’s second cannabis retail shop, is scheduled to have a grand opening at its downtown location Friday, Oct. 13.

JARS cannabis will do business on South Main Street at the former Simply Celia’s Bakery and Restaurant, next door to the Mi Guadalajara Mexican restaurant.

The City Council Monday night voted to approve the customary use of city assets for the grand opening and stressed that the substance cannot be used on the premises.

The first marijuana retail business, Prosper, is located im mediately north of the Burger King restaurant.

In other business at Monday night’s meeting, the council:

  • After a second reading, adopted an ordinance supporting the rezoning of 236 Railroad St. from light industrial to general business district (B-2). The Wayland City Planning Commission recommended the request from Jon and Don Rose last month.
  • Adopted as resolution to allow Dollar General to encroach on two parking space to its immediate south to accommodate two receptacles for disposal of cardboard paper products.
  • Adopted an ordinance for special events, streamlining the process for businesses and non-profits when they apply for use of city assets.
  • Approved the purchase of its fourth early voting tabulator for use in the elections next year.
  • Approved the appointments of Taylor Emert and Zachary Cramer to fill vacant seat on the Downtown Development Authority Board.

Well the people watching will be fun. Pot shops ALWAYS bring out the best of society and the restaurant will enjoy those customers with the munchies. What a country. My opinion.

Oh, David T. H, you keep bringing up all these people hanging around outside and low lifes. You know about half of those customers are Trumpees. Prosper has been in business for almost a year. I never see these people you keep referring to. Maybe you should go to the open house for JARS and find a life besides the Townbroadcast. Heck, you might even run into one of those Trumpees.
