Wearing masks no longer required on school buses

Wayland and Hopkins school officials announced this weekend that wearing masks will no longer be required in order to ride school buses.

The Wayland Union Schools’ web site reported, “Effective February 25, 2022, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) does not require wearing of masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education/child care programs. Students will not be required to wear masks on the bus and will be optional.”

Hopkins Schools Supt. Gary Wood announced to parents:
“On Friday, February 25, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updated its guidance on masks, relaxing requirements. The CDC will no longer require wearing masks on buses or vans operated by the public or private school systems. Therefore, wearing a mask on Hopkins Public Schools transportation will be optional starting Monday, February 28.”
