The Wayland boys’ track team finished seventh among 15 teams Friday at the Division 2 track regionals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids.
The Wildcats, who finished the season in second place in the O-K Gold Conference, scored a team total of 36 points, edging out Stanton Central Montcalm by one point.
Grand Rapids Christian won the regional title with 121 points and Cedar Springs was runner-up with 86.
Carson Nieuwenhuis placed second in the open 400-meter run with a time of 51.19 seconds.
The Wayland girls’ team Friday placed 11th among 14 teams with 10.5 points. Grand Rapids South Christian won the regional crown with 134 points, edging East Grand Rapids by a point and a half.
