The Wayland boys’ varsity bowling team captured its first victory this season with a 19-11 decision Monday over Kenowa Hills at the Rock’ Bowl hometown lanes.

Meanwhile, the Lady Wildcats hiked their dual match record to 3-0 overall with a 30-0 whitewash of Kenowa.

“Our boys brought home a big win to start our (O-K Gold) Conference!” exclaimed boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak. We rolled very well in the first Baker game and won 182-149. We fell in our second Baker, but still managed to win 136-129. We found ourselves up 10-0.”

Carson Beck, Chandler Caruso (199) and Stephen Harnish 177 all took points in the first match, along with total points. At this point the ‘Cats had already won, up 17-2

Caruso (177) took his second match point, as did Deven Gardner.

On the junior varsity side, all of the boys got to bowl each other as Kenowa didn’t have a boy’s JV team. JV player of the night goes to Carter Decker with 156 and 178 games.

The Lady Cat didn’t have much of a match Monday afternoon.

“Kenowa is having a difficult time, as they only had two varsity ladies” explained coach Eric Bottrall. “When you don’t have enough bowlers, the missing scores count as zero.”

Breanna Hyde led the team with 175 and 189 games. Bella Harnish added a 182 and Kadence Bottrall had high game of 207.
