Wayland High School graduate Andrew Haldeman kicked six extra points and a 47-yard field goal in his final collegiate football game Thursday when Western Michigan defeated Middle Tennesse State 45-31 in the Popeye’s Bahamas Bowl.

Haldeman, place kicker for WMU, has been kicking field goals and extra points for the Broncos for the past four years. He led the team in scoring. He scored a career-high 93 points for WMU as a junior in 2014 and he tallied six points on three extra points and a field goal in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl against Air Force.

As a sophomore in 2013, Haldeman made the second most field goals in a game (six) in school history Nov. 9 against Eastern Michigan.

His longest field goal, 52 yards against Bowling Green, was the fourth longest in school history and at one time he had a streak of making 47 consecutive PATs.

The son of Bonnie and Derek Haldeman, he was born in Ferndale and now regards that city as his home town, though he played for football for Wayland High School for four seasons, 2007 through 2010. He is a mechanical engineering major at WMU.

WMU completed its season with an 8-5 record overall.
