Wayland High School graduate Austyn Chase, 21, is fighting for his life after a serious traffic crash Sunday morning on 14 Mile Road, Rockford. A Go Fund Me site has been established for him.
Authorities said Chase was driving a Honda Accord he and his mother share on 14 Mile when the car left the shoulder and he overcorrected and the crossed back across the roadway into the path of an SUV driven by a 24-year-old Rockford woman..
Chase had to be extricated and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman also was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to the post of his GoFundMe page, he was on his way home after working the late shift at his job in Cedar Springs. Though airbags were deployed, he was partially ejected and suffered multiple and life-threatening injuries.
The GoFundMe site reported has not regained consciousness since the accident occurred.
His injuries are extensive and he is still in critical condition.
