WHS grad joins MSU-Kansas conference concert

Brody Black

Brody Black, son of Missy Kerber-Black and David Black of Wayland, traveled recently to the University of Kansas with the Michigan State University Wind Symphony to perform at a concert during the American Bandmasters Association National Conference.

Of the pieces listed in the program, Brody played in Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Masquerade, Rhosymedre “Siren Songs and” “The Gum-Suckers” March.

Black graduated Wayland High School in 2018. During his high school years he was in marching band, concert band and played for the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony. He continued his love for music at MSU as a flautist and piccolo player, most recently in the MSU Wind Symphony.

He will graduate from MSU this Spring with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish.
